Our Geelong studio and workshop bring design and manufacturing together under one roof. It’s where ideas are developed, prototypes tested and finished pieces made.The space is built around hands-on production and traditional machinery, where skilled hands remain central to the making process.
Materials with a history
We work exclusively with Australian native heritage timber - Australian hardwoods that have either had a previous life or come from trees removed for reasons other than commercial timber production.
By working with timber that already exists, we can preserve its history and natural qualities while giving it a new life in objects designed to last.
No two pieces are quite the same
Heritage timber brings a depth and variation that is rarely found in plantation-grown timber. Colour, grain and tone can vary significantly, even within the same species. Subtle traces of a previous life may remain.
We carefully finish each piece while allowing these natural qualities to remain visible. The result is refined and contemporary, but never completely uniform. We choose personality over perfection.
Made with purpose, finished with care
We make considered choices at every stage, designing to make the most of the timber, favouring naturally derived finishes, and using more sustainable packaging that can be easily recycled when your light arrives.
Every light is made-to-order, producing only what is needed and allowing each piece to be made specifically for its destination.
Made for the project
Our collection is designed to be adaptable. When a project calls for something different, our close connection between design, materials and manufacturing allows us to develop new dimensions, finishes, configurations and ideas with designers and architects.
The people behind the brand
Sundown was founded by Chris Delia and Stephanie Grace in 2023, drawing on years of international experience across design, manufacturing and business operations. We're now a small but growing team, working hands-on and independently from our Geelong studio and workshop, with a deep commitment to in-house production and considered sourcing and making practices.
We make lighting for spaces you want to spend time in. For us, that means using honest materials, exploring playful ideas and creating lighting with a warm, distinctly human feel.
